Best of spring (1)

Alright folks, we fell for it as we always do – the false spring. A few nice days where you swap your knee-length, thick, 10 year-old parka from Aritzia for your walks for a shorter, lighter jacket and you think you’ve done it – you’ve made it to spring.

Alas.

Cue the snow.

It happens. I love every season but do have a special spot in my heart for winter. Hunkering down to hibernate, recharge, unwind – these are the moments that make life worth living. That being said, spring is one of the best transitions when it comes to renewal – slush melts away, revealing grass and flowers, the temperatures rise but are mild and pleasant, perfect for walks, and despite being allergic to pollen, it’s a great time to be outside.

Spring is often a short transition too. It seems in no time, we’re stripping to shorts and tees and feel a full blast of summer in late May. So while spring lasts, please see my personal favourite of my spring hobbies. When I think spring, I think flowers and butterflies, pastel colours, and romance, and once you see my lists I think you’ll understand why I recommend each item.

Top 5 spring films:

Top 5 things to do in spring:

  • Make your own bouquet: whether it’s buying a bunch of tulips (none for me, thanks to my cats) or making your own floral bunch, this is the best time to do it!
  • Use pastels to the max (in your art, on your clothes, on your coffee mug – floral patterns and the Easter hues of lilac, lavender, pale yellow, light pink, mint green and baby blue are what it’s all about)
  • Walk (don’t run) to a coffee shop for a coffee and a pastry (bonus points if the cup is aesthetically pleasing)
  • Bake (especially lighter things: think banana bread, lemon loaf, strawberry shortcake)
  • Take baths (soak in a tub of flower petals with candles lit while reading poetry)

Spring isn’t around for long, so make you make use of it!
